Spring Tryouts
Tryouts for the 2012 season will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 2 PM in the Peabody School Gym, 70 Rindge Ave. (enter from the rear of the building). Players must be between 7 and 12 years old on April 30, 2012. Current minor leaguers must be at least 10 years old by April 30 to try out for the major league. All players should bring a baseball glove and new players should bring a birth certificate as well.
Farm League
Farm League meets every Saturday at 9 AM at Comeau Field, starting April 21 and running through the end of June. Farm League is for players who are younger than 7 years old or other players who would like some additional baseball experience before joining a minor or major league team.
A Note from the Webmaster: Apprentice Sought
When I developed this website over 9 years ago my son was a rookie in the majors and NCLBL was a very big part of our family life. My wife and I attended almost every game and our son’s teammates were like our nieces and nephews; we happily allowed BayStateBaseball to plan all our summer weekends. Lacking the remarkable ability of our coaches to give an inspiring speech after a 15-0 drubbing, the website was a good way for me to help a wonderful organization that is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, mainly parents and former parents. In fact, I found the work so rewarding and fun that I went a little crazy, updating the site a half-dozen times per day and staying up too late so that pictures from a random Tuesday night game would be posted for the kids on Wednesday morning.
My son is now a sophomore in college. While I still find the website work rewarding at times, I think the league would benefit greatly from having a new "crazy" webmaster, someone who is immersed in the league and loving it.
