It is bittersweet to say goodbye to graduating 12 year olds of North Cambridge Little Baseball League. Without a season this year, the good bye is sadder than usual.

Perhaps you played here from T Ball through the Minors and then on to the Majors. Or perhaps you joined us somewhere in between.

Perhaps your team went on to the Mayor’s Cup, or the League Championships. Or perhaps like most, your team won a few and lost a few, knowing that in most cases it was a bit of luck either way.

Maybe you will go on to Babe Ruth and High School baseball. Or maybe your path will take you in a different direction such as another sport, or another activity.

My hope is that during your time here you learned about teamwork and developed friendships. You learned how to try, especially when you thought you couldn’t. You learned some responsibility, for your belongings, your friends and your family. And you learned the importance of respect, for your team and your opponents alike.

But most of all, I hope, regardless of the outcome of the game or the season, you had fun.

And our wish for you is that you have success in school and in life, in whatever you try.

But please don’t leave and become a memory. Stop by again. There will always be a place for you in North Cambridge Baseball.
