The Bay State Tournament of Champions program is for serious players who wish to continue playing baseball in an inter-city league after the regular season. NCLBL generally sends 3 or 4 teams to participate in the tournament, called the A, B, C1, and C2 teams. The A team consists of the league's best players (mainly 11 & 12-year olds), the B team is mainly 11-year-olds, the C1 team is for 10-year old major leaguers plus possibly a few minor leaguers, and C2 is strictly for minor leaguers. The teams are selected by the coaches late in the regular season.
Summer league requires a greater time commitment than the regular season, since there are up to 4 games per week and more than half are held in other eastern Massachusetts cities. Each 2-week tournament round consists of 6 games and 2 POSSIBLE "trophy weekend" games (teams must qualify for the trophy weekend at the end of each round). There is also a possible championship round called the Tournament of Champions during late August. Much more information on the summer league can be obtained from the tournament web site. Please contact summer league coordinators Frank Grover and Ryan Whitaker (617-259-0255) with any questions or comments. |
