Thursday, May 14th
MINORS: Dodgers 6 - Reds 4
Pitch counts
Dodgers:
Poirier - 42, Chu - 61
Reds:
Sikora 72, - Berberina - 53, Matte - 27
Home runs:
Marc Hollland, Reds - (1)
A hard-fought, back-and-forth 6-inning game between two good teams on Thursday, a beautiful night for baseball. Dodgers pitching was on, giving up only 4 walks for the night. Dodger bats were busy, with Jaylend (triple and double), Mr. Chu (double) Matt and Maddox (singles) and Jeremiah and Maddox again (safe on fielders' choices) leading the charge. Only great Reds defense slowed them down, as 2 more dodgers hit the ball but were out on good field plays, and runners were sent back to the bench on 3 plays, including a tag at home by Marc.
Reds bats were not quiet, as Marc hit a double and a 2-run homer; Matty and Owen got singles, Kai got 2 RBIs on a sacrifice play, and 5 (!) hits were stopped by excellent dodger defense. Both pitchers and Jeremiah at first teamed up for numerous "1-3" plays, Jaylend and Mr. Chu teamed up to get a runner at 3rd, and the outfield saved at least one run by getting the ball back in quickly. Good baseball was played by everyone!
