Can Day & Picture Day, Saturday May 19
On Can Day, players in uniform, supervised by coaches and parents, solicit donations for NCLBL at key locations throughout the city. This is a vitally-important fundraiser for the league, and we hope that most players will be able to participate. We also need parents and coaches to help out with supervision and transportation.
It will be fun and convenient to participate in Can Day, because Can Day is also Picture Day. A schedule for picture day is posted above. It is hoped that most players will grab a can and help out with Can Day right after having their pictures taken.
60th anniversary hats and t-shirts will be on sale!!
Peter McCann, Jim Stockard Honored at Galluccio Associates Breakfast
Our long-time farm league sponsor Galluccio Associates holds an annual breakfast to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the youth of Cambridge. This year, our own President Peter McCann (Braves Minors) and Treasurer Jim Stockard are receiving awards for their service to the North Division and other youth organizations.
The breakfast will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Cambridge Royal Sonesta (parking at the Galleria Mall) beginning at 9:00 a.m. The cost is $35 per ticket. This event is also a fund-raiser for Galluccio Associates. Proceeds are used to sponsor youth activities in the city, like our farm league. If you like to attend, please send a check to Galluccio Assoc., 86 Buckingham Street, #1, Cambridge, MA 02138. There will be a North Division table at the breakfast so we can sit together.
Photos Wanted
Please help improve our website by keeping an eye out for exciting, interesting, or cute photos in and around the field during games. It does not take great skill or an expensive camera, just an eye for the right moment: someone sliding into home plate, all the players celebrating a home run or victory, several players sitting on a bench eating ice cream, a younger sibling watching the game; many such moments go uncaptured at every game. Single good shots will be gratefully posted to the home page. For larger batches of pictures the best option is to post them to an online service such as Facebook or Flickr and email the link. The webmaster can also make picture galleries if necessary. Any photos not posted right away will be kept for the banquet slideshow.
Farm League
Farm League meets every Saturday at 9 AM at Comeau Field, starting April 21 and running through the end of June. Farm League is for younger players who would like some additional baseball experience before joining a minor or major league team. Players who missed the spring tryouts on March 10th are encouraged to attend since we have some openings in our major/minor league program. Players must be at least 5 years old by 4/30/2012. Registration is at the field on April 21st. Please bring a birth certificate and a baseball glove.
