The Bay State Tournament of Champions program is for serious players who wish to continue playing baseball in an inter-city league after the regular season. In the summer of 2006 NCLBL will send 4 teams to participate in the tournament, the A, B, C10, and C9 teams. The A team consists of the league's best players (mainly 12-year olds), the B team consists of the second-best major leaguers, the C10 team is for 10-year old major leaguers plus a few minor leaguers, and C9 is strictly for minor leaguers. The teams are selected by the coaches late in the regular season.
Summer league requires a greater time commitment than the regular season, since there are up to 4 games per week and more than half are held in other eastern Massachusetts cities. Each 2-week tournament round consists of 6 games and 2 POSSIBLE "trophy weekend" games (teams must qualify for the trophy weekend at the end of each round). There is also a possible championship round called the Tournament of Champions during late August. During the summer of 2006, the A team will play 3 rounds, the B team 2 rounds, the C10 team 2 rounds, and the C9 team 1 round with possibly a second. Rosters Parents: You should have been informed by your child's coach whether he or she has been selected for a summer team - even if only as an alternate. Please contact the A team coach Scott McManus (617-354-3042), the B team coaches Alan DeHaan (617-868-0530) and Mike Melin (617-417-2829), the C10 team coach Bob Blum (617-491-4319), or the C9 team coach John Capo (617-868-6937) as to whether your child is interested PLUS your vacation schedule and availability. Fees There is a registration fee of $25 per round for summer league. Consequently, the registration fees for 2006 will be A: $75, B: $50, C10: $50, C9: $25. Every player must either pay the registration fee or get approval for a scholarship. Much more information on the summer league can be obtained from the tournament web site. Please contact summer league coordinators Bill Neukomm (617-834-7753) or Brian Feigenbaum (617-868-3444) with any questions or comments. |
