05/16/2013 / MINOR
Reds 13 - Dodgers 7
Pitch counts
Dodgers:
Leo Barron 19
Haroun Khidier 24
Zoe Poklop 50
Eddie Keen 3
Reds:
Casey Williams 41
Andrew Millar 63
Mathis Hansell 2
Game Summary
It began as a game of unbeatens, the Reds and Dodgers vying for first place. The Dodgers staked their claim as Eddie Keen open the first with a solid single. After 2 walks loaded the bases, Alex Gough-Schnaap delivered a 2 run, 2 out double to give the Dodgers the early lead. Haroun Khidier followed with a single and the Dodgers had a 3-0 lead.
Leo Barron started strong and struck out the side in order, but Andrew Millar returned the favor for the Reds in the second.
The Reds then took a commanding lead in their half of the 2nd. Backed by hits from Andrew, Jules and Mathis "Batman" Hansell, Kal Pepin, and Casey Williams the Reds put a 10 spot on the board.
The Dodgers, however, were far from finished as Eddie Keen led off the third with his 2nd hit in as many at bats. Then Alex, Haroun, and Jupiter Westbard created some 2 out thunder to score 4 runs and it was a game again.
The Reds pushed 3 runs across in their last two at bats on bases loaded walks to Jamari Cesar in the 3rd, and Jules and Kal-El in the 4th. But the pesky top of the order awaited the Reds in the top of the fifth.
But the Reds defense finished this one. Casey Williams picked Eddie's attempt at a 3rd hit, a soft line drive, before it hit the ground for the first out. After a walk to Anthony Thompson, Zoe Poklop lined the ball to right field. Right Fielder Mark Holland made a terrific sliding catch, and after everyone on this side of Jersey yelled at him, made a perfect throw to first to end the game. He then disappeared as every Red teammate jumped on top of him to celebrate.
